Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Awards 2016

Greetings from AICTE and techpedia.sristi.org at Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and   Institutions (SRISTI).

I am very happy to endorse the request by Techpedia team at SRISTI to invite submissions of projects/innovations by students for the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Awards 2016. It is a SRISTI initiative which AICTE finds  very timely and relevant for fostering youth driven Innovations and Start-Ups. The Prime Minister has given a call for Start-Up India, Stand UP India. I feel that  when the awards are  given during the Festival of Innovations (FOIN) hosted by The Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, March 12-18, 2016, a new energy will charge our young technovators.

Four categories of awards are:

01. MLM (More from less for Many) or Frugal Innovation Award: Technologies that use significantly less material/energy compared to existing alternatives to create sustainable solutions.

02.SRISTI Social Innovation Award: A demonstrable proof of concept/ prototype that possesses a significant amount of novelty addressing a social unmet need.

03. Technological-edge Award: A breakthrough or a significant technological advance in any field of engineering, pharmacy, medical, agricultural, or other disciplines.

04. BIRAC-SRISTI award for biotechnological/medical/healthcare innovation:A technology having potential for reaching the masses and/or addressing a felt social need, augmenting grassroots innovation, or making it extremely affordable compared to available solution will be selected.

Up to ten of the selected innovations will be given a grant of Rs.15 lakh each and another hundred ideas may be granted one lakh each for taking the idea forward.

Any student project that has been completed in or after 2012 is eligible for submission. Students presently enrolled in a programme or those who have recently graduated from technical institutions/universities may make the applications. In exceptional cases, school students who have developed a pioneering solution without any help from parents or teachers may also be considered. The faculty members who have supervised projects by students who have graduated, are also eligible to apply on behalf of their students. The full project report of the shortlisted projects will be needed for final evaluation.

Last date for submission of entries is 31st December 2015. The nominations have to be submitted at http://gyti.techpedia.in/login.

With my best wishes
